96 Bauer gas pedal tension

My sister and her husband just got a 96 Explorer Eddie Bauer 4.0L V6. It's an incredibly nice vehicle but he has one complaint with it. There is very little if any tactile feedback in the gas pedal. Is there a tension spring or something or someway to adjust the feedback of the pedal? Thanks.

The only thing I can think of is the throttle cable mod. I did it to my truck and you basically use zip-ties to take out the play in the throttle cable.
