Are there any differences in interchange between a power steering, manual steering gear boxes for 2WD 92-94 Rangers?

I dont know for sure but manual most likely has different gear ratio. So more turns of the manual steering wheel to get the same turning circle as power

I've heard that. Even seen the difference posted somewhere. Can't seem to find any info except for early Mustang stuff now.

I'm also interested in this. If I have to replace the steering box I might as well delete that pump which is nearing end of life.
Anyone running a manual box can give their opinion on how much of a pain it is? I had manual steering on my Honda years ago, but this could be different

pitman arm is different between a power steering & non power box. The manual steering pitman arm is almost impossible to find.
Other than that I believe its a simple swap.

The pitman arms are indeed different - the manual box has a smaller sector shaft diameter. And, the input splines are different as well so the steering shaft will need to be swapped/customized. If you're running skinny tires it's not a big deal, it's easy enough to turn, but it's more turns lock to lock. The boxes themselves have the same bolt pattern, so they'll bolt into place.

You can go Volvo electric pump as well. Have one on my 1988. I like it.

Hooks right up to factory box plumbing with adapter hoses.

I’m a little late to the thread but I have did and are currently running the set up on my 1993 that started life with power steering.
I went to my local junkyard back around 2003 and pulled a manual box off a 1994 plain Jane model with the putmin attached.
Those are the only parts I changed, didn’t modify anything. It bolted right in and haven’t had a problem

The reason I made the swap to manual is because the box is smaller/shorter, I needed clearance for oil filter relocation kit on V8 install.
