Finished my spare tire mount, cut the 5x5 studs off and drilled a couple holes 4.5" apart for a pair of bent 3/8 threaded rods, tire is secured with a piece of flat steel and wing nuts. The mount itself is bolted to the bed.

I think it's pretty good for a $20 DIY job, $10 for the mount and $10 for the bolts.

It's 2wd right? Don't hit any mud holes without a buddy to pull you out.

Yeah, I'll try and stay away from the mud when I'm alone :P

Winch is a possibility, not sure how I'd mount it securely to my bumper though.

Washed it

Oh well lol. Im looking for something I can weld to, I dont want to sacrifice my other chrome bumper lol. Your neighborhood looks like a place I used to live, anywhere near Evans place in Poco? Ahahahaha

Forgot to answer this but yeah it's one street over from Evans and you're there lol

Also I took a pic when you parked next to me at Lordco, I saw it and took the pic just before I went on a run. You can post the pics you took too if you want

Ryan I meant to ask you yesterday, but for your wheel spacers did you need to cut the original wheel studs any?

Nope, they work like adapters. The spacer bolts on to your original studs with included low profile lug nuts, and the spacer has its own studs that the wheel goes on to.

https://www.allprooffroad.com/otherspacers

That's where I got them, I got 4 of the Jeep 5x4.5 1.25" spacers

Ok, thanks. Did you change the torque spec for the spacers or did you just leave it at 100 ft lbs?

It comes with instructions. You torque the spacer to 100 but then you torque the wheel to 90. You have to drive a bit and re-torque the spacer a few times to make sure it's on there good.

Here's a pic my mom took on Canada Day haha

Long overdue update!

So 3 weeks ago I moved from Port Coquitlam to Victoria, BC. Had a job opportunity so I took it! The actual distance isn't that far but the expensive 1.5 hour ferry ride makes it a pretty big move. And the fact that I'm not living with my parents any more.

Had the truck loaded up pretty good, even squatting a bit in the rear.

Wheeling trip to an abandoned quarry north of Shawnigan lake, my truck surprised everyone in the BC Ranger club. Didn't get stuck once, it definitely earned its "2WD Off-Road" status.

Made it through the deep mud pit on the way back, definitely thought I wouldn't make it! Especially after seeing the 4-bys have trouble with it. I just hit it with a bit of speed and floored it when I was in the pit, hoping for the best.

That's it for now! I'm going on a quick trail run tonight so there'll probably be more pics soon!

Went out wheeling again, could quite keep up with the 4x4's this time. It had just rained and I couldn't get enough traction on the slippery rocks. But I did make it decently far up the trail, had to get towed at a couple of spots. But again, I love surprising people! Everyone says it's the best 2wd they've ever seen wheeling (except maybe for this one insane dude that wheels an 80's Nissan Micra -- Apparently he's put ATV tires on the front before. The guy's nuts :D )

You can see where they tied the rope the first time to tow me; unfortunately it bent the bumper because I had my foot on the brake, and couldn't get out to show them where to tie it properly. Oh well.

Oh, and I'm just parked here, not stuck lol :p

Here's the 2nd time I got stuck, I was just burning rubber on the slippery rocks. Then I rolled back too far and was so flexed out that I was teetering on my back left and front right tires!

I beat the bend (from the tow) out of the lower bar with a hammer, and hid the dents from the hammer with the rope. Good as new!

Last weekend I went camping in Port Renfrew. Don't have my tent trailer on the Island yet, so I slept in the back of my truck. It was actually awesome, it rained both mornings but I stayed completely dry with the canopy on. Better in the rain than my tent trailer honestly. Comfy too, with my sleeping bag, pillow and air mattress.

The place we camped at was a total off-road playground, it had sand dunes, river rock, mud pits, river crossings, trails, you name it.

Here's an aerial view of the site:

Helped pull out a 2wd Cummins Ram out of the mud. Took me, the Yota, a Jeep and a Hi-Lift jack to get it unstuck.

Towed the boat on the way home for the Toyota so we could make it through the mountains at a decent pace (his 22R's piston rings are shot, burns a quart of oil a week and it's seriously down on power). It's an awesome little truck but it'll be even more awesome when he swaps a Cummins 4BT into it.
