93 ranger 4.0 ohv WEIRD issues

About a year ago it had misfire issues and then the starter shorted out on me and burned the ground wire from battery to starter I spliced a different one in with a parts truck , it started and ran with the same misfire . Sat for awhile Now it will start when it wants sometimes stay running and then sometimes misfire then shut off. Sometimes it will throw a fit and start for one second and shut right off. I've thrown a few new parts on it but wondering if it could be bad harness? Fuel ? I don't want to

Theres some stuff you can do without throwing parts at it...like clean the MAF and IAC...might help.

What is your fuel pressure?

Always the first and really the easiest thing to do heading into any drivability diagnosis.

You could also start with the "splice" that you made and check that those connections are solid and not corroded. Maybe that would get you back to square one where it ran with a misfire and go from there.

Yea I'm going to dive into the truck tomorrow when I'm off , I will get back to you when I found out more. I really don't want to get ride of this old truck to many memories anyway thanks so much for the feedback this group is awesome

The big problem is it's intermittent today sometimes it will start and run for the whole day Wich makes it extra annoying to diagnose, makes me wonder why I even bother with it sometimes lol
