93 lift options?

so what do you guys think about the superlift kit, i found the entire kit on 4 wheel parts with everything but brake lines for around 750

I have the superlift 5.5 in kit. I is a great kit in my opinion, the brackets are made very well and after a little driving, it aligned well too. The springs are a little stiff, so without extended radius arms the flex isn't all that great....

The brake lines, you can either buy some for anywhere between 50-100 bones or you can make some from some brakelines at auotozone, #77226 and #88291, put these two together and you have a 24" brake line for one side....

My Superlift broke after not even a year.

Stick with Skyjacker.

I don't have superlift arms, made my own so I don't know about their radius arms, but I have heard they brake easy where they bolt to the axle, which is what is depicted by
4x4's picture... Forgot to mention that...

The rest of the bracketry is awesome though....

well im not gettin radius arms, i think im gunna get the superlift, now i need to figure out the rest or it and rims and such, how wide are the stockers, i dont think they will work with 12.5 inch wide tires

With that lift, 33x12.50' s will fit nicely, I suggest a 15x8 wheel with about a 3.75" backspacing, maybe 3.50" to get them out a little more.

Your stockers are probably 7" wide, a 8" or 9" would work much better.

the smallest backspacing i could find in cragar soft 8 style is 4"? would that work, i dont see 3.75" on summit racing

I looked and I couldn't find any either. a 4inch backspace should work fine, although they may not 'stick out' as much as I like them too....

Here is my BII with the superlift lift and 33x12.50 with 3.75 backspacing, I don't know if this will give a good reference or not...I think your rear axle may be a little wider, although that front axle is D35, which will be the same as yours.... I have another pic, a front on shot but I cant seem to find it.

Their brackets aren't much better either...

I guess it really depends on how hard you use your truck offroad. If it'll be spending most of it's time on the street (nothing more than mild offroading), then it'll probably hold up without any problems.
If you plan to wheel your truck even moderately hard though, I'd stay away from Superlift TTB kits.

I've been (ab)using my Skyjacker stuff just the same, and it's outlasted the Superlift by an 8-1 margin (and still going).

Oh, 4" backspace wheels should work fine. If needed, you could use a ¼" shim (spacer) to make it equal to 3.75" BS

That bracket got jacked! You been jumping your BII man?
That bracket looks different than mine, perhaps I have newer versions or something....I have literally beat the shit out of my BII's superlifts brackets without any issues.....It seems I have bent everything except the lift brackets but I did bend a radius arm drop bracket when I hit a tree, lol:black_eye:

But going by those pictures, I suggest getting the skyjacker kit, although it seems any bracket 'can' break, given enough abuse.....

could i lower the carrier bearing or do i have to get a 98+ ext cab driveshaft?

Nothing is impossible, you COULD lower the carrier bearing. But, you are 10x better off just cutting out that crossmember and putting in a 98+ driveshaft. Its easy, dont sweat it.

Lol, that's just typical from bumping & grinding through rocks (my Rancho kit broke apart in almost the exact same ways). Those unreinforced tabs fatigued and broke off from the lateral force that the axle places on it.

The massive Skyjacker brackets are just pure beef though.

Skyjacker bracket

I know Superlift fairly recently redesigned the bracket for the passengerside so it wouldn't smash through the differential housing (only took them 15 years  ), if they beefed up the one for the driverside, then all the better (although the one depicted in their current set of install instructions still looks like the broken one above).

do you know the wheelbase of my ranger, and what length driveshaft i will need/where that measurement is taken from (such as weld to weld or yoke to yoke)?

Since you have a 93 ext cab, you want to get a 1 piece driveshaft out of a 98-99 ext cab 4x4 truck - Doesnt matter what transmission. This should have a 2.5 transfer case flange and 3" differential flange. Supposedly in 2000, ford went with a bigger transfer case flange (3" on both sides). While you can swap the output shaft out for the newer style, it adds more work. Its much easier to just stick with a direct replacement....well almost. Get the 4.5 inch grinder out and have some fun getting the carrier bearing mount rivots out. :temper:

...Forgot to add that it is also possible to use a "conversion" u-joint to use a 2000 and up driveshaft rather than replacing the output shaft. Use the search function to find more info about this...
