93 Explorer Sport Capabilites???

i am thinking of getting a 1993 Explorer 4x4 2 Door Sport. does anyone know how hard this truck is to lift and its offroad capabilities? i was thinkin of a 4" BL and some 32/10.50's BFG All-Terrains. how good does this truck pull in the mud? low end torque?
 
:stop: Do NOT put a 4" body lift on it, 3 is the highest you should go. Also its probably illegal in your state to have more than a 3 inch gap between the frame and body.
 
it'll fit 31x10.50's stock, have a 4.0L with the strong 8.8 out back and a D35 and the front takes any lift for a 4x4 Ranger/BII with twin I beam suspension, if you got a 4" lift you could probably throw 33's on there...
 
any lift that will go on a '97 or older Ranger/Bronco II will fit on the '94 and older Explorers.....reason being is the '94 and older Explorers have the TTB, just like your Bronco II.....

It's a great motor--it makes it's torque at a decently low rpm--lots of pull from 1,000-4,000rpm. It only came in trucks and back at a time when people didn't care how much power it made. Best part is the rev limiter. I bounce mine off the limiter all of the time plowing snow on hills where you can't push the clutch in or you stop dead in your tracks.

The suspension and axles are the same stuff that has been going in trucks since the 50s. Easy to work on, durable and easy to get decent suspenion movement out of if you follow some of the guides in the tech library. The 'Sport has the perfect wheelbase of all RBVs and with the SUV body, the best balance between climbing--suspension movement--manuevarability. If it has an auto that would be some concern because your going to need to find a good rebuilder that knows those A4LDs intimately. If it's a 5-speed I would get it without hesitation and know I had the best possible compact SUV of any make for offroading.
