Hey guys I’m looking for some input on my memorial truck build, doing a axle swap on a 92’ standard cab ranger, I have a Dana 44 HP for the front and a Sterling 10.5 for the rear, it’s going to be leaf’s front and rear as far as the lift goes, also dropping a HO 5.0 from a 86 mustang to replace the blown up stock 2.3, my questions are what the best combination of leaf’s and shackles would be for the goal of running 39.5s, also with dropping this 5.0 in, I have both the wiring harness from the 92 ranger and the 86 mustang, but both were automatics, but wanting this build to be manual transmission.. will either of these harnesses work for the swap or is there a better route to go… also open to other issues I may run across that I may not have thought of! Thanks!! And if anyone has detailed pictures of a similar build I’d really like to see them for reference!

best? damn..... call deaver and tell them what you want to do...weigh it front and rear....and prepare for a huge bite out of your wallet.

but it will be the best you can get for springs.

that combination of powertrain parts brings no issues. what trans and t case combo otoh to use can be hard to nail down...

you already have access to the mustang engine.... or i would strongly suggest an ls engine with an ar5 trans and colorado t case setup.

starting from scratch there really is no advantage other then horsepower and modifying the ls manifolds is easy.

running 39.5 tires i would be looking at 4.88 gears at least with the 302. though 410s would be livable depending on what trans and t case you go with.

Iv got the M5R2 sitting here with the tcase so I’m assuming I’m set as far as engine and transmission goes, these were all parts that were previously purchased and have sat a long time im currently rebuilding the 5.0 and trying to stay the course of how he wanted it.. I’m just not to knowledgeable on crazy leaf set ups

which t case?

the 1345 and 1356 and fs 208f are very wide. a 4406/7 is livable.

the wide ones need a bit of tweaking to fit.

It’s the BW4406, I’m mostly trying to get this leaf spring situation figured out to be able to roll it into the shop before winter an get the cab off to sandblast the whole frame, it’s been growing it’s own ecosystem in the bushes for 10+ years

the wagoneer springs work ok as long as you dont get too heavy like me.

currently i use heavy duty 52s from a blazer up front and hd f150 2wd springs out back. the blazers are 2350 pounders with the ol cut to pad length.

i prefer to put shackles out front to keep the drive shaft and wedging under control.

i kinked a few of the 57s i built over the years and janked up a driveshaft because droop was extensive.....

dropped to some 40 something dodge type springs and still had too much shaft run out and way shitty ride...

then went to forward shackle and eventually the 52 inch springs and it seems a good balance.

but i am 3600 on the front axle so its a fat girl. the cost of having a v8 diesel and 4l80....huge radiator and winch and shit.

i like the offset of the waggy springs....with the v6 engines they are perfect.
the waggy springs are too soft for my application. but i suppose i can buy 2 sets and add 3 or 4 leafs and run sliders up front.

right now i am thinking of just running the blazer springs at each corner so i only need one leaf pack and extra main for spares to handle trail disasters.

you should be able to get setup in a saturday so its rolling.
