'92 Ranger failed smog test.

Make sure to clear any codes you did have, not sure about obdII, but I remember EEC-IV, if you fixed the problem, and the cel went out, but you didn't clear the codes, your "continuous memory" codes would still effect how your computer interprets the readings... Kinda like a "well, that seems to be right but I still don't know if I should trust you" type situation...

Also, with auto trans, if you reset the whatchamacallit that controls it, your transmission will over rev, and shift HARD, for the first while, and will slowly smooth out... My roommate's st had that happen after we did the BL, and it was so much of a change, he thought we messed something up, or a massive air bubble got in the line, and was about to take it to a local tranny shop to get it fixed

Sent from somewhere naughty!

Its a 5 speed, and i did reset it.

I took it back today...it passed I'm happy to say. Although my NO is astronomically high compared to the last test (still under the limit though). The first test it was only 93.9, this test was 859.0 (limit is 956). Thats a HUGE increase obviously!

wow, that's nuts... what did you do to make it pass?

nice! well hopefully that solves the problem long term, and you get a bonus, in the form of better gas mileage!
