92 3.0 transmission swap

Has anyone tried to put a different transmission on the 3.0? I have the manual m505 2wd, and its shot. My neighbor has a mustang 2 transmission from a 74, and i was wondering if an adapter could be made to either match the bellhousing to the block or the transmission to the existing bellhousing and matching the clutch splines. i think the second option would be easier. any thoughts?

anything can be done with enough time and money. the fact that you have to ask tells me you should just head to the local junk yard and get the *right* transmission for your truck. low mileage M5OD's are a dime a dozen anyway.

maybe over there, i havent seen a 3.0 ranger in any of the junkyards around here for the past 3 years
