the speedo cable came apart on my '89 B2 at the transfer case. It seem as though something is missing when I try to put it back together. the cable can't engage the gear now...It has a speed sensor before the transfer case as shown in the attached pic. Any help?

I don't think that piece is supposed to come apart there, the two halves are supposed to be crimped together via the metal collar in the middle.

I'd probably try to find another one at a junkyard to replace it (keep your speedo gear though just in case the one you get has a different gear on it).

thanks, I had a feeling thats what Id have to do... So I would ask for a B2 or Ranger speed sensor I would assume?

Just go pull it yourself. People talk about the dealership ripping you off, have you ever seen what the junk yard actually charges you to pull parts?

I think there is supposed to be a horse shoe clip in there though.

I have that clip that bolts to t.c. I checked advance, i think they have it for $17...
