89 2.3 wont start

no spark on drivers side coil pack,changed pack and engine fired up and ran 4 a few minutes then died.again no spark on drivers side coil pack,removed pack and plugged it into passenger side connection and it fires!why no fire on drives side only?

they aren't supposed to spark on the drivers side durring cranking, only when running

sometimes it starts and sometimes it dont ,how do i check for codes on this year truck?

in the tech section of the main site there's instructions, you can do it with a paper clip and a analog volt meter, or a paper clip and watching the check engine light blink, the list of codes is on the site. Personally I have used some speaker wire so I can remotely connect the two spots since the connectors are on the passenger fender by the fuse box and you need to be in the drivers seat to watch the light.
