2.3L ('83-'97) (89 2.3 manual) will a 2.3 from a 94 with an automatic go into my 89 with the manual easily?

I just want the engine from the 94, will it go into my 89 with everything I already have? Just the engine? I would use my manual transmission, wiring, computer, etc.

I just re-read the tech article and the only issue I could see is if it was a Cali engine and not the other 49 states....
quote from the tech article:
"CPS (Cam Position Sensor) was added starting in 1995 (1994 in California). At this time Ford changed to a 104-pin computer (it was a 60-pin) and moved the DIS functions into the computer, previously the DIS system had a TFI module as a separate unit mounted on the front of the intake manifold. "

other than that one minor exterior difference it is all in internals that you probably will enjoy more - roller cams, better seal, etc

As long as the crank pulley looks the same it should be pretty much interchangeable. Some of the auto trans versions didn't have EGR but I think that was done by '94 though but the EGR stuff might be a bit different with the flow sensing ports on the tube...
