I have a 1988 Bronco II Eddie Bauer with a 2.9L that will not stay running after it warms up. Let me start by saying that I have replaced the ignition module, inline fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, and the fuel pump relay. All of that and I am still having problems with the truck running after it warmss up. It runs GREAT on start up and usually for 20 miles or so of continuous driving and then seems to vapor lock. After reading some of the threads here I am assuming that it is either the in tank fuel pump or the inertia switch? Any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated!!! At this point I am stumped and have sunk more money in to it than I would like with NO noticeable results.

sounds like the temp gage that is in the intake plenum.

First off...have you verified that both pumps are actually working, ALL the time, even after the truck shuts off?

I had a bad fuel pump relay which would sometimes work and sometimes not. When it was not working, the tank pump would shut off and the in-line pump would overheat and stop working. One relay later all was well.

Could be a lot of things I guess, doubt it's the inertia switch though.

For those of you that read this, the probelm ended up being the fuel pump in the tank. When I opened the fuel tank I noticed that there were pieces of the strainer in the tank. After replacing the pump and strainer the Bronco runs like a raped ape! AGAIN!!

a 2.9 will never run like a raped ape. :D
however, yeah... that will do it. i hate that there is 2 pumps on these things. i always forget about the in tank one.
