I'm pretty sure that it is a lot stronger than the factory bumper. If you put some diamond plate steel across the top to fill it in it would make it look better and add more strength pluss give you a good step for standing on. Keep plugging away man, your off to a good start!

only thing i'd be worried about is.... those "clevis mounts"
how thick are the shackle mounts? most are done 1/2" at least.
are they safe to use for recovery?


other than that, looks good. also i'd cap the ends.

Hey congrats on an ambitious build

Just a thought about those end brackets (clevis mounts?). They are a bit sticky-outy, and would really act like a can-opener if you ran up against anything (or anyone !). Ditto on capping them somehow when on the street.

replace them with tie rings:

(Princess auto up here, sure Harbor Freight has something similar). With your demonstrated fab skills, wouldn't be no big thing to switch to these, no?

saskbill-- another issue, tie down rings are NOT made to be used as recovery attachment points....

need a good clevis mount.

1 inch metal. good strong stuff. as long as you weld properly, it won't come off, it won't endanger anyone.

The end brackets are actually for my tow bar that I havent painted yet. I have it removed because of weight concerns on the front end. Im already looking to level it up, I just dont know if I want to use spacers or a heavier set of springs. Im about 1.5 to 2in low in the front now. Would explorer springs bring it up enough or would another set work better?

the expo coils woul probably get you back to even again. also i agree with the others, you need to cap the ends. other than that, looks pretty good.
