it depends if the 2.9 is an interference motor or not. (this means if the a valve stayed open, while the piston is top dead center, would the valve and piston collide)
I vaguely remeber looking this up abut 2 years ago and i beleave the 2.9 is NOT an interference motor. but dont quote me on it.
Basically, if the valve and piston collided, you will definatly be looking at valve damage. very likley the head on that side (or both depending on the case) will need ethier machine work, or need to be replaced. depending on the speed of the engine at the time it skipped, you could even end of blowing a hole right through a piston and having your broken exhuast or intake valve in the crankcase. (ive seen this happen)
However, it could also have done nothing, depending on howmany teeth it skipped. Go ahead and crank the engine if you can and listen to see if it have good compression, or if you hear something wrong. just be prepared to rebuild or replace the engine if it is a worst case senario
