I was in the tire shop today and thy said I need tie rods both sides.
I am going to try this myself. What is a good brand of rods or does it matter?
is there anything else while I am in there to look at or replace?

Spicer = best.

2nd best would probably be Moog, although I'd try to find the Spicer stuff first (try your local independent stores (or online) for Spicer, the big chain conglomerates rarely seem to carry them for some reason).

Junkie is right, spicer is the way to go. Just make sure its the pro grade. the stuff with the blue dust boots.

rockauto.com and if you google rockauto discount code you can find 5 or 10% off coupons.
left and right outters
SPICER Part # 4011406

SPICER Part # 4011407

and the two inners
SPICER Part # 4051034

SPICER Part # 4401061B

Hmm I have the same issue and was reading on here you have to have a special tool to hold them with. I was thinking a pipe wrench or big visegrips. I have a 98 4x4.

Thanks for the info.
would you replace the bushings too?
