I have an 86 ranger with a 2.0l carb motor. What is one of these engines worth?
Would there be any interest from anyone in buying it?
Also what is the 5 speed manual worth? I believe it to be a Toyo Koygo.
I posted this here because I wanted to know if its worth the hassle of selling it or should I keep it.

Howdy!

Well, unless you find someone who wants to keep the original motor in a 2.0 setup, you're probably not going to get much for it...might be worth $100 to $300 if it is running and low mileage...

I had one in my 88 Ranger but ended up swapping in a 2.3 with a different carb...not usually worth the hassle of trying to make it work and you'll probably see ten or so other members here with the same setup...

BTW, the 2.0 was apparently only sold in 87-88 Rangers produced for Canada...are you in Canada or did you find this in the USA?

If you're in Canada the emission testing is pretty tough to pass unless this is your first time...and you might get a conditional pass if it's close...but the good thing is you can 'rebuild' the truck by putting in a different motor (the 2.3 is a good choice) and have the truck passed easier...it's a bit of a pain but after spending over $2000 on variuos upgrades and requirements to pass the Drive Clean I finally went that route myself...

/I have seen ranger (s) produced in the united states in 1987 and 1988 produced with the 2.0 . You don't see many today they where not that great of an engine. I can remember my father buying one in 1984 and ford issuing a a service about oil consumption a warning but not recall to owners. the 2.3 is a lot better motor esp the twin plug , I recommend a swap when it dies, but interest in this motor I think would be slim A 2.3 is a super easy swap, but there are a ton of other options avail I owned prob thirty rangers /bronco ii/ explorers and I think of them as the model A of todays era

Im putting a 350 sbc in so I have no use for the motor, I am in Canada but my truck is old enough that I don't have to take an emissions test. the motor has about 110000kms on it and it ran well. I guess I'll post it for sale, Anyone know anything about this Toyo Koygo tranny? its a 5 speed.

Personally I like these motors, but I like all of the Limas. I like the fact that it came with a carb and a distributor that can be swapped to a points type distro from a pinto.

Also, you don't have that damn 8 plug head....HP is good, but being able to change plugs in under 6 hrs is cool too.

Thery aren't really worth much though. all they are is an underbored 2.3...most people want more power, and the 2.0 doesn't fill that bill. I almost picked one up in a truck with 40K miles running good. I could have gotten the whole thing for $150. Jerk sold it out form under me.
