85 to 87 carb swap

Alright guys I'm stupid truck fires right up now it was bad plugs and some how I screwed up the fireing order I will post pics soon thanks for the help

Firing order is 1-3-4-2.

Stand in frt of the truck. Lean over and look behind the alternator. #1 is on the lower right. Go clock-wise from there.

Pics when you're done would be great.

Good to hear it was something simple...but I thought you weren't getting any gas to the plugs????

I have an 87 ranger that had a original 2.0 in it complete with a broken connectiong rod, (it's in the process of getting a rebuilt stock 302 with a 5 speed, I want to see what kind of gas mileage I can get out of it), the original 87 2.0 had a 2bbl carb, and intake on it, I think I still have the carb, and intake in my shop somewhere (I thought about making a adaptor to put a 350cfm 2bbl holley on it, and see how much $$ I could get for it, the intake fit's all the round port heads).

When I pulled the carb I cleaned the jets I think that was my gass problem it kinda neat to hear the secondare open and feel the diffence LOL buy the what's the redline on rheas things puting the tach in it tomorrow

I don't have a tach...never had one...I rarely push it to the limit, but have done so...and as I was counting the RPMs I think I got to 6,000 before I shifted (J/K)...

What I have done, though, is shift at the point where there is no longer any acceleration and judge by the sound of the motor whinning...I've read a few different things on this but I'd say the red line is around 6500 or so...but if it's an older engine I'd keep it below 5,000 RPMs...unless you like the sound of a valve stem ripping through the valve cover or something going out through the oil pan...:)

well i plan on using here as a drift toy so when im sliding i have to know when to shift lol thanks

well here is an motor pic for you guys
