'85 Ranger Restomod

That is exactly why I want a dog... they won't let that happen.

You're talking about us. Aren't you?

My wife wanted to visit her friend in Lincoln today... so I hit the JY in Lincoln since it has been awhile and they had 2 (as in plural!) first gens on the roster online, a '85 and a '88.

I found this sad third gen, she gave it all. I wonder what the heck happened... I think it about had to have been a rollover of some kind.

Never did find the '88, I think it must have went the trip. The '85... oh the '85. Somebody needs beat for junking this poor thing.

The wiring would pass for being in a well cared for 5 year old truck, let alone a 35 year old truck.

Pretty much base model, 2wd, 2.0, manual (shift knob was gone), shortbox, AM/FM radio and cigarette lighter delete, I haven't came across that before (or noticed it if I did)

So for my finds I nabbed the dash trim, I haven't came across the cigarette lighter delete before and it was all in good shape. Arm rests are like new and so was the knockout plug for a non PCM truck.

The skidplate was in the back of the truck, I will see how it fits with my front swaybar, I like the idea of something in front of the steering. The cover is nice to have, the OEM tower heater hose clamps look new, jack crank is in nice shape, and the blower motor and wiper motor I think will clean up nice. Both have the factory printing on them and should be correctish for my truck (not quite exact but the same model year, mine was built 2-85)

My blower motor looked horrible (rusty) so I wire wheeled it and painted it, my wiper motor looks like crap too. So maybe with a little spit and shine this stuff will perk it up under the hood a little.

And I drove my truck home from work after I let the paint set up today and the spare didn't fall off so I am counting that a win so far.

Wtf is wrong with your junkyards... There's no bees, dildos, or hobos in any of those pics. :icon_confused:

He just cropped those out of the pictures.

Not everywhere is like chowdah land...

I did find a new closing wheel for dad's John Deere 7000 planter. The person at the counter didn't know how to ring it up they just let me have it. :icon_thumby:

You have farm stuff at the junk yard? That would be cool.

I now officially hate you...

The only thing you "find on the floor" of the junkyards here are crack pipes.

Dang that tan truck looks better than almost everything I own. Too bad Lincoln is 500 miles away, I'd be tempted to buy it and body swap my daily driver.

Good work on the bumper, it looks awesome!

Good finds for you. Yes, it is sad someone junked it. Whatever went wrong with it was probably more than they could handle or afford to pay for a repair. That’s today’s throw away society for you.

Honestly I think either somebody didn’t want to bother to sell dads truck and it was junked or it was donated and nobody bid on it. I am positive that same guy that babied that thing for 35 years is not the same guy that called the JY to come pick it up.

It is what is, I would have happily paid the same $200 they got from the yard for just the cab with the title.

Sometimes people inherit stuff like that. Sure it's valuable to us but to a non-car person its just an old ugly eyesore cluttering up their driveway. I got a rust free 63 fairlane with a 351c engine in it from an old lady like that. She just wanted it gone and I was happy to oblige.
