85 Bronco 2 issues

The Jeep guys

Call it doing the "nutter bypass". This bypass eleminates the computer from controlling the dist after changing out the computer controlled carb. I'm pretty sure you have a very similiar system to the Jeep's.
When the carb is changed in the Jeep the computer "sees" the richer mixture and retards the timing to help with the smog.
If your dist has a vac advance on it and centrifical advance, I see no reason the "nutter" wouldn't take care of the computer forever.

LOL what's a "nutter bypass"? It sounds fabulous to me if I can get this thing running and makin momma happy again. Atleast I am happy that I have done all these fixes and replacements cause they will only help the truck run longer.

to write it out.. Google it and you will find several postings on what it is and how to do it on a Jeep. Should be very similiar on that ford as Jeep used ford parts back then.
It is a simple to do bypass of the computer from the spark box to the dist.
If your dist doesn't have a vac advance and centrifical advance built in it the NUTTER won't work.

So guess what. The Bronco is now FIXED!!!! It was the SPOUT wire but also the resistor in the plug for the TFI. Got a new computer put in and a new resistor and she fires up and runs like a DREAM!!!

Thank you all so much for the help you have given me I can now drive that damn thing and it will no longer be holding down the driveway!!!

Anytime. Glad to hear it runs and drives.
