84 Bronco II 2.8 to 302 swap...

and if you dont have an intake yet you can get a brand new edelbrock performer 289 from autozone for $100.....part number in their computer is 2121

I built this engine for fuel mileage :) I used a '68 block, new cast pistons, and a stock cam profile. I put on a set of E7 heads , slightly ported on the exhaust side but with 1.72 roller rockers. I used an '82 high rise 2V manifold and I built a 2100 carb. I used the stock log manifolds for fitment and of course all new bearings, lifters and accessories ( pumps ) etc. If I want maximum power in something, I won't be driving the BII so that wasn't the goal. I wanted as much low speed torque and efficiency as I can get from a small V8 with a carb. I have a Duraspark distributor that I am firing with a HEI module. I will probably end up changing the gears from the 3.45s to 2.73s or 3.08 etc. Not sure what I can get for the front Dana differential?? With the V8 torque, I don't need the lower gears to be able to accelerate well enough on the street. So there you have it. Now the original poster . . I'm guessing you aren't going to build an engine?? You want something that you can just drop in?? Or do you want to build one and just want a good starting place??

i put a 5.0 HO in my ranger and it was farily simple. there were a few times i was standing there scratching my head but it all worked out. i went with HEI dist easiest way to go. motor mounts from 86 lincoln cont. 5.0 weiand intake holley carb and lots lots more goodies

What did your motor come out of.
And will 86 lincoln conti motor mounts work on my 01 Ranger edge.
Did you have to do any fabrication. Just curious what I can use other than explorer v8.

I am curious too but he hasn't been online for over 7 years...

FWIW TTB trucks have a huge beefy crossmember that ties the frame rails and suspension together. Your truck is vastly different in the front.

IIRC Explorer mounts are a drop in fit for you, no idea how much they cost new though. I think my Mustang mounts were around $30 a side.

Yeah, I knew it had been a while, just hoping somebody else had the info. V8 explorers are a hot item around here so if I can grab a different donor and Frankenstein the rest, I will.

The mounting bosses in the block are all the same, you could put Explorer mounts on a '66 289 and bolt it in your truck.

The mounts should be available new, I would be tempted to use new ones no matter where the engine came from anyway.
