Does anyone know if an 83 ranger tranny can be hooked up to a 92 if i swap the hydraulic clutch components and stuff?

You don't want to do that. The '83 more than likely (if it was a 4x4) had the FM-145 which was a weak transmission. Your '92 (if you have a 2.9) had the FM-146, which is a better transmission.

If you have a 4.0 in your '92, you don't want either of the 2 transmissions.

A buddy of mine has a FM-146 with the proper clutch mounting for your '92, if you have the 2.9, for sale if you are interested. If you are, PM me.

None of the above both are 2.3l

Did they even have a 5-speed available in an '83? I thought they only came with TK4's in that year.

Either way, there will be some crossmember/driveshaft issues, as well as the shifter will be in a different place. Not a big deal if you have the donor truck and the wheelbases are the same.
