8 lug GM wheels on Ford

I found a set of 8-lug aftermaket wheels off of a newer Chevy truck to maybe put on our old '80 F-350. I know the stock GM wheels use a smaller inside hub diameter than Ford/Dodge, what is the minimum measurement that will go on a Ford?

Do the later model GM's do anything else goofy (hub-centric vs lug-centric type stuff)?

I would worry about the bolt pattern first. I believe all 8 lugs were switched over to Metric sometime or another.

All dodge are still 8 on 6.5.
All chev until 2010/11 are 8 on 6.5
All ford until 99' are 8 on 6.5

As to the hub diameter, I've seen them machined out for 4wd applications. I've seen some 2wd's fit with no issues and other's need machining depending on the hub lip. Basically your gonna have to test fit them to know or not....

GM is metric now too, 8 on 180mm. They moved to the larger pattern to be able to run larger wheel bearings for a greater payload capacity.

I know that change is inevitable but I don't like it! Shows how old I am I figured something like that would be the reason and since the majority of the world is metric it makes cents to have just one bolt pattern IE; cheaper to ship in offshore parts than to tool up for north american market.

Probably because of them darn Canadians being metric more than anything.

Pisses me off, just when I had most tools I needed to work on vehicles, I had to go and buy metric too!!! Again shows how old I am
