I am sure it has been asked before, what do ya'll think about a mini spool in a8.8 daily driver

You can do it but its a PITA in the snow, particularly when running MTs or super swamper tires. You would be better off welding it than buying a mini spool for money and durability reasons. Personally I COULD get use to running a welded/mini spooled rear in a DD but frankly its not my first choice. If you are prepared for lots of tire chirping turns and fast tire wear go for it.

FYI this is first hand experience, my b2 had a mini spool and so does my exploder. Its a shitty drive during the winter.

I don't have to worry about snow very often down here in Southern Mississippi. How much faster tire wear are we talking about here

We're talking around every corner you make, you are scuffing a tire, on every turn. I'd say pretty severe wear on the street.... I've got one in my chevy. I'm scared to drive it in the rain. I'm sure it'll be fun in the rain too...my aussie is fun...but is a handful in parking lots with a manual transmission.

The mini spool will put major strain on the 8.8 carrier as well, which isn't exactly a strong point on the 8.8 to begin with.

You'd be better off with a lockright or a noslip.
