actually aussie doesn't make a locker for a ranger 8.8
one of the other companies doesn't either... i don't remember which one tho.

I agree with legoms013, use a fan clutch. I had an issue with an Autozone fan clutch and it was constantly engaged. I took the thing back out (it was made in china) and put a US made Hayden clutch in. It works flawlessly, and I've had it in for about a year.

As far as an e-fan; if you do it right, they work great. But if you get a cheapy from Autozone and expect it to perform like the factory set up, you're kidding yourself. IMHO, you'll dump a lot more money into getting an E-fan to work properly than you will just to buy a decent brand of fan clutch. Just a thought because I gather from your rear differential comments that money is tight (as it is with most of us right now).

if you use an e-fan, get the 3 wire one from a 3.8 Taurus! super strong fan for its size, can be found at jy's... and have high and low

I've heard this several times on TRS. I'd like to see pics, and maybe a write up on it.

Still probably more money than a fan clutch though.

Idk I can get e-fans for $10 at the JY and I have wire and relays around the house. If you add the adj thermostat it might be about the same. But the cooling power is awesome and you get the gain of less drag on the motor.

Taurus fan install using a manual switch instead of a thermostat. Sure there are others on Google, just did a search for "Tauras fan installation".

looks like im now looking for a 31 spline 8.8 off the explorer... my buddy has a new elocker for a 8.8 with 31 spline and i did some work for him a while back and hes goin to sell me it for 200 and he is a fab guy and will fab up all i will need to make the explorer axel work!

as far as the e-fan vs fan clutch goes.... i have put three hayden clutch's on it that never unlocked.... even after a couple thousand miles... the one i have on it now locks up about half the time even when the truck is cold... so i'm just goin to get a e-fan...
