7.3 diesel ranger? why not

I think most of the black smoke that comes out of diesels is soot which doesn't really pollute the air, it just falls to the ground rather quickly. But smokey things are not politically correct.

Umm carbon dioxide perhaps?

Dioxode, monoxide, its one of those pesky bastards. It has already happened- the tree line is at 12000 feet- not enough pollution can get up there far enough to feed the trees! We need mexico and other countries to take up the slack and produce MORE to compensate for our politically correct peices of crap.

Not entirely true, black smoke from a diesel is from running too rich. So in esense is unburned fuel, aka hydrocarbons. There is almost no reason a diesel needs to have black smoke come out of the pipe, except for maybe just a very slight puff to spool the turbo, but with a VGT even that is not needed.

Theres nothing wrong with black smoke, even trucks that roll coal almost all of that ends up back on the ground somewhere. Soots more dense than air and that's what the unburnt fuel is, in turn goes back to the earths surface one way or another. And in diesels, fuel makes power in diesels and the only way to stop black smoke entirely is to either get HUGE multiple turbos or run raw air or both.

Well, they need to sell off International and buy back some of that Cummins stock.
They quit having international make there stuff and there making there own engines now. 100% in house. I'm personally expecting the new 6.7 to match the 7.3 in reliability and they almost doubled the HP and ft.lbs. of torque output. These diesel engines are getting crazy stock.

I too am amazed at the crazy stock numbers the OEM diesels are putting out. There was a time when a semi engine could only DREAM of numbers like that!
I just can't imagine what there going to be pumping 10 years from now. I'm ready though! lol. I want TS performance to get a hold of the new 6.7 and see what kind of power they can get out of a stock engine block and turbos. River city diesel got almost 700hp and ran something in the low 11's with a well tuned 6.4. Stock turbos stock injectors stock tranny and block.

The only way you're going to fit a 7.3 PowerStroke in a Ranger without SERIOUS modifications is by hauling it in the bed!!

To do this would be like trying to stuff 20 pounds of junk into a 5 pound sack. It's damn near IMPOSSIBLE to do so.

ive seen this done on an s10. not sure on the engine or anything. found it on youtube

You do not have to have rolling black smoke out of a diesel anymore, don't believe me, go look at any of banks trucks. With the advent of a VGT you no longer have to spool a large turbo, it can be a small and large turbo at the same time.
