6.8 ford engine blown plug

Hi looking for some advice I have a 98 e350 with a 6.8 liter and it blew the #9 plug so I take it to a shop which had a high rating of 4.8 and so he made the repair and I paid the bill which was little over 300 and I drove it one day and the following morning and it blew again so I take it back and the guy says we will check it but it's probably threads were weak. So does the shop owe me a refund or a new head? I have had several replaced in the past and never had one blow back out any help would be appreciated

Been a while since this topic was discussed but it really depends how they fixed it the first time. I think there were threaded inserts/helicoil type deals that would fix those pretty easily and were a permanent fix. I would assume they did that as opposed to just putting a new plug in it?

People are human, mistakes get made sometimes, aftermarket parts quality is way down in the last few years. Who knows what the root cause is. I would expect them to fix it again at no charge or refund you so that you can take it elsewhere. If you trust the shop, then just have them do it over. I would NOT expect them to give you a new head... this has been an issue for over 25 years now, if you have had the problem before, you knew about it and could have sold it and bought something else

We never had an original equipment plug blow out of a 5.4 or a 6.8, we did have some that blew out after plug changes by independent garages. If your plug blew out of the insert that I assume they installed, they may be able to install andother one sucessfully. If the insert blew out it'll need a head. It's possible to replace plugs on those engines and have them stay in place.

For $300 I bet they got a new coil from a parts store and just tried to stick it back together. "the threads are weak" sounds like they did not do an insert.

It needs an insert put in it and probably a new coil.

2v mod motors are pretty common to do this. If they don't do it right and it blows the insert out you are kinda SOL. If they tried to screw a plug back in a mod motor that blew the plug out I would venture to guess you would probably get the first insert they put in as well...
