I have a 5r55e and looking to install a shift kit. My question is once you remove the valve body, do you have to take apart the valve body or are these simple, remove and install outer parts to valve body?

thanks

You have to take apart the valve body and remove valves and springs and reinstall valves and springs. You will also need a new set of valve body gaskets, filter and pan gasket and be sure to use a torque wrench when installing valve body.

The shift kits usually have clear instructions on how to install the components, can you follow them ?? I'm not trying to be a dink, some kits are quite involved and usually include drilling certain holes larger and sometimes drilling additional holes into the valvebody.

The question is , do YOU feel comfortable potentially screwing up an operating valvebody?

Thanks guys,
I get the point, you must take apart the valve body itself to install kit. I get it now.
thanks all I needed to know.
