5R55e Interchange questions

The 5r55e in transmission in my 98 Ranger 4x4 with 4.0 is bad. I located a 5r55e from a 2001 Ranger 4x4 with 4.0 but am told it will not interchange. Does anyone know what the differences might be? Also, does anyone know what 5r55e transmission would interchange with the 1998?

Chances are adjustr's truck has a 4.0l OHV and the 2001 is a SOHC. One bellhousing bolt is different and that's way the interchange says it's different. The swap will survive just fine without the one bolt.
