My husband is replacing the 5spd manual tranny in my 1994 Ford Ranger. It has the 4 cylinder engine. He's having problems removing the hydraulic line fromt the clutch slave cylinder. He's got the service tool to release the quick disconnect fitting. The ring compresses but the line won't release. It appears to be the Mazda M50D-1 transmission according to him. Any suggestions about removal and intallation based your past experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I prefer to push the collar in with 2 small screw drivers. There is no real sure fire way unhook the "quick" disconnect fittings I have ever found, just patients and luck.

if you dont care about the slave...then tell him to just pull with all his might. It will bend the little tang springs in the slave cylinder receptacle, but the master cylinder line should be fine.

Thats how I did it.

Use the 2 small screwdrivers.

The factory tool doesn't press the plastic ring in far enough.

You can use the tool to get it started but that's about the best I've been able to do with it.

Push IN on the line while you try to push the ring below flush
with the outer collar of the female half of the coupler.

Pulling OUT on the inner half while you pull makes it a lot harder to
release the barbs that hold it in place.
