So i im finally down to the driveshaft and the exhaust, got the front driveshaft in nicely but im having issues with a rear driveshaft id perfer not to get one made but i can't seem to find a compatible drive shaft, every post i find says to use a driveshaft out of a expedition or f150 shord bed single cab but those shafts are 2 short, i have a 4 door ranger idk if its a long bed or short bed but ima assume long bed cause its a pretty big ranger and i messure driveshafts from center to center of the fixed end ujoints the recommended ones people say are 42 inches mine requires 48-50 inches with 49 being perfect but have room for differences does anyone know what im doing wrong looking for driveshafts and if i got to shorten my ranger driveshaft do i need another conversation ujoint to fit the expedition joke to the ranger shaft?

Didn't you need a conversion u-joint in the rear if you did find a f150 shaft to work? So front or rear, that is probably going to be a given.

If you have a wire feed welder and a dial indicator, you can shorten the shaft yourself.

Problem is all the f150 shafts are damaged or 2 small at my local junk yards so i have to resort to shorting my ranger driveshaft but i need to get the joke installed on the ranger shaft but id have to know if the front ujoint i need for the yoke is the same one i used for the front driveshaft

4 door ranger?! i.e. a Latin American (Mexican) Ranger?

If if is the Latin American 4 door Ranger, it is a SuperCab frame (which were all short boxes). <the Latin America 4 door has the 5' or ultra short box; just like its F-150 big brother.>

For building driveshafts, I get the transmission, axle and tube yokes and get the appropriate u-joints. Noting, the stock Ranger driveshaft is often aluminium...

Mine is aluminum but im asking what vehicles driveshafts will work or what ujoint will connect the f150 yoke to the ranger shaft

Oh my…

So, when I did dad’s 5.0 swap, I used the Ranger rear driveshaft. I may or may not have had to change a yoke. If it did require a yoke, I just dug around in my parts to find one.

My 5.0 swap included lowering substantially and my Ranger driveshaft ended up being too long. I ended up cutting about an inch and a half out of the shaft and changing a yoke. Local spring/driveshaft shop balanced it out (they could have cut it down for me or made a custom shaft but I was in a time crunch).

What im having problems with (wont let me send pictures for some stupid reason) is on both ends of my rear driveshaft its got the 4 bolt holes that bolts it to the old ranger transfer case and the rear end, the bw4406 uses a yoke that slides into the transfer case, i need to know what ujoint i need to connect that yoke to the driveshaft so i can get it shorten or at least how to tell

Alot because of that i see the yoke ujoint is 1350 and the aluminum driveshaft ujoint is a spr 539 so i need a spr539 to 1350 conversation ujoint, so the hunt begins
