4x4 not working

Can anyone help me? Have 2001 Ranger. The lights on the dash blink 5 times and then go off for about three minutes. Then they blink 5 times again. These are the lights that indicate whether you are in 4wd hi, 4wd lo, or 2wd. The 4 wheel drive will not engage. Bought the truck used and do not have an owners manual.

Crawl under the truck and make sure the shift motor wires are attached. It is on the back of the Transfer case. If they are, then it could be a bad shift motor.

It's trying to flash a code, but I can't find the flash code chart. You will need to find out what codes are in the memory.

put it in whatever gear u had it in before ur problem say it was in 2wd and didnt engage make sure u have it there then disconnect your battery and reconnect it, it resets the computer or something and works...fixed mine atleast and i had the exact problem, good luck
