4x4 Issues please help

The 4x4 light will in my 1993 ranger not come on when i press the 4wd button! I hear some noise in the Moudle behind my seat when i press the button but no light! Do you think i could try tapping on the shift Motor for the 4wd to see if it will free something up like they say about the Ford Explorer?? Also there is a 10 amo fuse in the fuse box and its supposed to be a 15amp but the fuse looks fine could any of these ideas be the soultion if not someone please point me in the right direction!!! Thanks

I'd start with giving that shift motor a good knock. Also, I know you don't have to do this, but I always make sure my transmission is in neutral before I shift it into 4x4. It makes sure that the drivetrain is free of tension before making the t-case work.

As for the fuse....not sure if that would cause a problem with the 4x4, but you should definitely change it out for the proper one.
