I have a 92 5spd ranger. When im driving down the road in 4th, gear going at least 45, everything works fine but if i dip below 40, it slips out of 4th gear. Is this because im at too low of a rpm, i dont have a tach, or does this mean my clutch is wearing and i should rebuild/replace

Sounds like you have a problem with the transmission. It should stay in gear, even to the point of such a low speed that the engine dies.

Yes it should hold a gear period. If it's in 4th gear that's one to one gear, so it's prolly a prob in the main bearing area... maybe i don't remember.

sorry thats what i meant, when i said clutch i meant to say transmission, so that means rebuilt/replace transmission right?, but is it totally necesary to fix now or can it wait cause it got other things to pay for

Its probably best to buy a rebuilt tranny and replace the clutch also. And then cash in the core tranny for a few bills back.
