The sticker on the fuel door in the last pic reads "Diesel fuel only".
 
I'm planning this swap for my ranger and I'd really appreciate any info you can give me on where/what engine mounts you used? What you did to modify the fuel tank? Basically all the details on how you got the 4bt in running and driving. Also did you cut the d44 down for the front end of leave it full width.

So, what's the fuel economy on this? Does it have enough power as a DD? Looks like a good setup if it gets descent economy and power. These are of course non-turbo diesels correct?

I have not gotten any MPG info on it. It is currently in the shop getting suspension 4x4 conversion and re geared to 3.54 from 3.73. I am hoping to get it back by end of the month. Plenty of power for a DD, I have have 800 lbs in the bed and it pulled it like it was empty. They are turbo'd

oh and a swap from the MR to a ZF-5

Awesome info, could you update with MPG numbers when you are able to? I didn't know the 4 cylinder diesels had turbos like that. Guess that would be what the "T" means in the 4BT?

Expensive swap I'm sure, and getting more expensive with more people grabbing those 4BT's for all sorts of projects. Hmm...wonder if I could put one on my lawn tractor LOL.

They can be had for around $2000 and up, it's the Ford adapters that are hard and costly to find. Complete set goes for $750+ and then Trans...sky is the limit, Dodge adapter, SAE adapter, Chevy. Plenty of options for the trans.

Great info. These things can get expensive when you get into projects like this for sure. Even more expensive if you have to pay someone else to do the work.

Yea easy $10k lol. Don't ask me how I know! :icon_surprised: Some of the trucks that I have seen with swaps are ridiculous and double that figure if not more. But I guess when you build what you want and plan to use it, in the long run it pays off. Still cheaper than buying a new emissions garbage diesel :headbang:
