4" brackets and 6" springs?

With the weight of a supercab 4.0 would it be possible (or even ideal) to use 6" skyjacker springs with 4" brackets? (the brackets would be tuff country)

Yes It could be done. The skyjacker springs usually sag out a little due to weight. I think most people use the upper (4") hole on the skyjacker brackets, because it offers more clearence and aligns better anyway. Maybe someone with a bit more knowledge can add to my reply.

yes you can use 6'' lift coils on 4'' brackets, all 4'' and 6'' lifts use the same brackety.

Ive got 6" coils on 4" lift on the bracket. Still sits to low and I got a 3.0. Im gonna get some older bronco 9" lift coils and stick em on there. Im hoping thats enough to get it setup right.

in theory yes...but if ur gonna isntall spacers get the steel spacers....nylon crap will deteriorate over time

Not quite...

On a Supercab, the spacers (or taller coils) is mostly to make up lost height due to it's weight.
Without the spacers, your 4" lift would wind up being only 3" in many cases, and can possibly make aligning the frontend more difficult as well. Spacers would fix this.

the 6" lift coils with 4" lift brackets on a 4.0 supercab are an ideal setup because you want the axle pivot mounting points close to directly center of the wheel and hub.

Even with the Superlift 6" springs on the 4" lift holes was easier to align than the 6" coils on the 6" bracket holes. Superlift coils are stiff too

yeah, I'm thinkin skyjacker 6" coils (they are the softest/flexiest right?) with tuff country 4 inch brackets. I'll probly need a pitman arm too. Also, i'll need some shocks. Any suggestions? I just want a decent ride, that's all. Oh and 4x4Junkie, i've got some old stock radius arms sittin in my garage that i'd like to extend and put on. What size tubing did you use on yours? And why bushings, not heims?

edit: nevermind on the tubing i looked at ur cardomain (duh!) but why not heims? And how long are they?

I picked up a set of 6 inch coils for my 4 inch lift as well (although I haven't had time to install them yet). I have a 4.0 supercab with a 200# winch bumper. I am hoping that this combo will perk my front end up a little, possibly even lift it an inch or so over my current setup. I picked up some longer shocks (my current ones are shot anyways) and I don't anticipate any problems with steering (fingers crossed). If I get mine done before yours, I'll let you know the results. On a side note, yes, I thought about coil spacers as well. But then I found a set of 6 inch coils on Craigslist and I really couldn't pass it up.

Didn't want the maintenance, noise and expense of heims (and as you probably saw, bushings flex more than plenty).

Arms are extended 12" over stock.

yeah i did see . it looks like heims aren't really necessary...on anything less than a trophy truck anyway. So i think thats what i'll do: 4" TC brackets, 6" SJ coils and some custom radius arms . Figurin out how to mount the brackets will be the fun part...
