4 100W KC daylighters

I have a 96 stx 4.0 and I was going to put 4 100w KC daylighters my question is can my alternater take it?

As long as you run the power supply to the battery, it should be fine. Your truck has a 95 amp alternator which should be ok if you are not using them all the time. You truck can put out 95 amps and each light demands 100W/12V = 8.3A. That times 4 is 33.2A. So theoretically, you alternator puts out more than the lights demand. Your engine also demands power, but I do not know how much because it all depends on what you are running at the time. If you have then money, I'd suggest up-ing to a 135A alternator. That is what I did, but your 95A should be fine as long as you do not run the lights all the time.

Yeah I run 4 100w KC's and 2 55W KC's on my old 84 ranger with the stock 40amp alternator and it still works great. Alternator has never been rebuilt either.

is there any harm in running a higher output alternator than what is needed?

i'd be using them on gravel roads and on the hunting trails. how much would a 135a alternator run me $.

How about hooking the lights up in pairs wit two switches (and relay).
That way you can turn on two at a time or if one set goes out then you still have one set to work with.
How do you intend to do the wiring, relays, direct to the battery, don't forget to get a good ground ?
Just a note, the bumper is a poor grounding location, run a heavy gauge ground wire back to the battery, all four can be on the same 10-ga wire but two 12-ga wires keep thing separate...

I got them wired up I had my buddy do it he's the one I got them off of in the first place. We wired them up 2 to a switch, 2 fuses there is only one 30 at the moment and the other is a 15 but I'll have a 30 in a little bit haven't had tome to run to the hardware store. There wired direct to the battery ran the wires throught the steering shaft rubber boot in the fire wall and mounted the switches in the cd player valance since I have a aftermarket one I have plenty of room to mount switches. I just put in some crappy old ones until I get some new nice looking ones. I'll post pics tonight.

You could always get an 200 amp Alternator. I have one. I just haven't put it on yet. They are pricey though.

I'll try to get some tonight I still have to get the little rubber grommets that go in the back of the lights and keep out water. the old ones are junk or missing and then I'll silicon them for extra water protection. I was going to get a 135a alternator sometime.

I tried to get some pics but my camera aparently doesn't have a night setting, and on the regular setting you can't tell there on. They're really bright though
