4.0L SOHC Supercharger Kit?

Soooo.....Is the truck boosted yet or what?

I wish! Well I had all the plans and everything ready to go, had a shop that would install and tune it, then a little thing called College decided to jump in on the party. So, at this moment in time, it's going to eat my money. Maybe if I get to intern out in the oil fields during my second year, I'll maybe get it done. But that's about 2 years away, LOL! Only time will tell... The only downside to getting it supercharged is all my friends want to call it the supercharged banana...

Buying premium every fill up is kind of a downside.....

Yep, I've heard that people buy regular fuel and add octane booster. Not really sure that works though..

The price difference between reg and super is maybe $.20 - .30.
For 15 gallons that means a difference of $3 - 4.50 at every fill up.

A bottle of octane booster will run maybe $5 - 6.

You do the math.

I am willing to pay a few extra bucks per fill up just so I can hear those twin screws whistle every time I grab a gear.lol

I'll fill up with premium fuel every once in awhile, I remember the gas station that had no ethanol in there fuel I filled up at, got the premium stuff. My truck was happy that day.

You wasted your money.....There is zero benefit to running higher octane in a NA motor with less than 10:1 comp ratio

Well, it's way to late to do anything about it now. Lol

There is now that lower octane gas almost always has 10% ethanol. And a lot of premium doesn't (where I live anyway)

Ethanol kills mileage. Even 10% of it.
Now, I did the math a whole back and there weren't any savings to be had by running non eth premium. Vs 10% regular due to the higher cost of premium. But it was pretty close. And if they go ahead with the proposed 15% ethanol, there may just be savings in it.

However, I run 91 when I have my truck tuned for it. And it runs a hell of a lot better than 87 and tuned for 87.

It's that damn ethanol shit.

Well with ethanol having less energy per unit of volume than petrol, that makes sense.

The whole ethanol speel is so screwed up, it's more expensive to make... Doesn't even help your car, nor is it better for the environment.

Ethanol is awesome if tuned for it.

It works well in high comp NA motors since it is equivalent to ~103 octane

Don't the flex fuel vehicles run on the E85?

Yes.

Sure, if a vehicle is setup for it you can make awesome power on it.

But in the daily drivers it makes absolutely no sense to have in gas.

I did a few weeks of research on ethanol last year. And when I did that, i found the gas used by trucks, combines etc was pretty much dead equal to the amount of ethanol produced. As in, it was simply a waste of time. May be different now idk.

And the fuel economy hit you take when running ethanol does not make up for the cheaper cost at all.

As in buy non ethanol 87 at a higher price vs 10% ethanol at a lower price, you'd be better off buying non eth for the higher price.

Again, this may be different now as well. No idea hat gas prices are doing south of the border.

Not to mention it ****s up my sled, my quad, and all my other small engine tools (weed whopper, chainsaw etc)

So I'm forced to buy the super expensive stuff to get no ethanol. When half the machines will run perfect on 87 if it had no ethanol.

Truly is nothing good about it. Unless of course you have a high powered race at tuned for it. In which case, just run methanol instead, or 110 race gas.
