Not sure why my previous post didn't get any responses, but I'd really like to know the normal water temperature for a 94 Ranger 4.0L engine. I just had an aftermarket gauge installed and want to know if what mine is reading is normal.

not sure about the 4.0l but my 2.9 usually sits around 160 with the outside temp around 0-15 C*

Normal operating temperature for most engines today is 195*, give or take a couple.:)shady

mtnrgr, the factory gauges arent that consistant. you could warm two different rangers up to 200 degrees and one factory gauge would be on the "O" and one would be on the "N".

a real, mechanical water temp gauge is the only way to go for accurate engine coolant temp readings.

195 is regular mines a little lower unless its way out of that range you shouldnt worry
