4.0 Upgrades?

i might be rebuilding too and so far what i have come up with is a 410 0r 422? cam i believe bigger throttle body and fuel injectors! stock are 19lbs you can move up i sugest no more that 30lbs and recommend 24lbs wet.if your rebuilding a push rod your gonna want new rods for sure and it would be best to bore out the block a small bit and buy new pistons. im just saying if you want performance go all out with what you can find and do before you put the sucker back in.

I have been biting my tounge as wether or not to answer this, well I stopped biting tonight, (the pain was getting to me)

not meaning any disrespect, however, you might want to actualy know what you are talking about before you answer a building up question with unresearched facts. One of the reasons I said you will need to replace the push rods in a 410 is because of the length difference between the stock cam and the other one has a greater difference. (buy the 410, then lay it side by side with the original) you will see the differences in the grinds. the 4.0 L motor runs on rails and there is no way to adjust for the differences so the only way to make up the missing is to get your new push rods custom made from Smith Bros. in Oregon. myself I wouldn't bore out a 4.0 L motor and want to over bore the pistons, the walls of these motors are about at the maximum you would want to go, and why thin them out more? greater chances of failures. I won't even start on the differences of 410-420. as for injectors... you will probaly get better milage if you just take your old ones in for cleaning and recalibrated. trust me I know what I am speaking and have over $2,000.00 in receits to prove it.

cheers.

Well Just to put my 2 cents in. i just destroyed my engine from flood water so i'm rebuilding. I'm keeping mine all stock other than headers the a larger TB, other than that my 4.0 is a great engine. (And a snorkle no more flood water)

best thing is a flow master or borla dual cat back exhaust with jba headers, a performance cam from tom morano racing, and just take the heads, upper and lower intake off yourself and do a good port and polish job. easily 75-100hp right there with the right tune. agreed?
