4.0 timing

No idea if it's pre or post cat though. Likely post cat.

I only have 1 o2 sensor (that I remember seeing last time I was under there, definitely not one post-cat). So why would a 93, a year earlier, with the same motor get 2 o2 sensors?

Unless it's a Cali model.

EDIT: <<< since when am I a "facebook moderator"? I don't even use facebook... nor did I apply for the moderator spots Jim posted about. Or am I just hallucinating?

EDITEDIT: Ok, not there anymore... nevermind

It a pre-cat O2 sensor thats missing. Get that in there and move the other one up the pipe to where its only reading 1 bank, not both.

Crank Postion sensor tells the ECU where the crank is and a cam position sensor tells it where the cam is. The ford 3.0 and 4.0 use a camshaft syncro nizer to ge the cam postion and time the injectors and spark.

not all the 4.0's had cam sensors, not until mid to late 90's. i know my 93 engine did not. not sure how that setup works, i dont have an answer....

Your 93 should have the camshaft syncronizer on it which basically acts as a camshaft sensor and send cam position to the ECU to tell it when to fire injectors and spark.

The O2 sensor should not make it die once the truck is warm. Do you have a way to pull the codses from the system to see what codes it is giving?

On my 92 the computer takes over if it doesnt sense the O2 after it warms up. I learned that from driving without an O2 for a year.

I know federal emissions 93 explorer has no camshaft sensor. one of the main reasons for picking it for my swap.
