I used to see that mixture and colour ALL the TIME when I was servicing the large outboard motors.

The lower end seals on those things failed all the bloody time. And it was usually the drain plug seals. various motor brands.

I haven't see it in a engine though. So That's new to me =>

My 35 Evinrude did that a few years ago too. Ruined the drive shaft somehow too

Wow, that is nasty! It looks alot like custard!

Nice work. Even your wiring harness looks a bit better than normal - something I'm tackling with my rebuild issue.

Good luck.

Yeah it was looking a little worn, so I'm taking all the heat insulation and split tube and replacing/retaping it while I'm waiting for parts.

All back together and is running. changed oil after 10 minutes, then went for a 50 mile trip and changed again. Not very dirty. Should be ok now. I hope

Im about ready to do the exact same thing you just got done doing. Where did you get your heads at? my local rebuilder said he could get some but they were like 475 bucks a head? seemed kinda high but maybe not

looks good btw! :icon_thumby:

eBay!

Well ford wants $1100 per side. I got mine at http://www.kingcylinderheads.com/

eBay has em rebuilt for $170 a head delivered! I'd sure go for a pair of them before spending that much money.. Or I'd rebuild mine it they weren't cracked.
I even welded a head off of my 69 Vette and installed it.. It ran another 50K without incident before I traded it off. So if the crack wasn't between the cylinders I might even weld a 4.0 head.

Rebuilt . . .so you know they had a problem that might be fixed. Magnaflux treatment or whatever they did MAYBE fixed the problem. I would rather spend more and have new heads that are problem free

It's your money! Spend it however you wish. If I had a 14 or 15 year old ride I'd be damned before I spent the money to put new heads on it.
