4.0 SOHC new timing parts, running on one side.

Well my ADD kicked in and I had to know, yesterday the PO told me the DS chain was laying in the pan, pulled the valve cover and he was correct. Gonna put the borescope down the spark plug hole and hope I don't see damage tomorrow.

Well I pulled the engine, and pulled the heads. 3 intake valves just barely nicked the pistons. Scored a brand new OTC timing tool for $205 shipped to my door. Planning on magnum head gaskets and Cloyes timing kit. Think I can have just under a grand into this project, under $700 if you don't include tools.

Truck cost - $100
Tow cost---- $75
Intake valves cost--- $50
Head Gasket set cost-- $150
Timing chain complete set $300
Fluid and other randoms- $100

So well under $1k as long as I don't run in major problems. This is a 2500 truck all day long in my area, but I would rather drive this and sell the chevy.

New plan, timing tool actually showed up after almost a full month.

-$100 for truck
-$75 for tow
-$50 intake valves
-$200 in misc parts and fluids.
-$200 for timing parts and full gasket set with bolts (will put quality parts in next time, don't want to throw a ton into a vehicle with so many unknowns.

Hoping to have under $700 into it and drive it for a year or two before I throw quality parts into it.

New total, Finally got the money together(CT70 project got in the way of spare money) And have all the parts now. Hoping it'll run soon, but most likely I will work on the Trail 70 project over the holidays. But should work on the Ranger because I want my other garage bay open.
