I’m wondering what freeze plug to knock out for the freeze plug heater. I’m using KAT'S HEATERS 11458 from rockauto. All the info I’m seeing on here is in relation to the 4.0 OHV

KAT'S has been pretty good for me in the past. My 2011 has an OEM heater in it. From what I understand, the 4.0 SOHC is a decedent of the 2.9 and 4.0 OHV, meaning they are all Cologne engines. If I am correct, the 4.0 OHV heater will fit in the SOHC.

Did you order it with a heater or one on the lot have it? I’m surprised mine doesn’t already have a heater with my grandpa buying it new

I ordered it after buying the truck. It didn't come with it. A good number of people can't wrap their head around why I have them. They only think block heaters are there to make sure they start. They don't think about the fact that they heat up the engine, so it warms up faster, which is better for someone who hates the cold (especially at 4:30 - 5:00 in the morning). It probably helps the engine as well.

Did you use the front passenger side freezer plug?

I would have to look. I don't remember which hole it is in. I don't think it really matters. Which ever one is easiest to get to.

I also got an oil pan heater, for better oil flow and it it warms up the engine even more. Also a battery blanket so the battery isn't as sluggish on the really cold mornings. Since you have an automatic, a oil pan heater on it probably wouldn't be a bad idea. I have one on the 2019.

I have a themocube for cattle water troughs on the outlet the heavy extension cord plugs into. That way it only turns on when it needs to and shut off when it's warm enough that they aren't needed. No point in burning electricity if it isn't needed.

I’ve been thinking about the oil pan heater, but that’s something I can do whenever. Figured I’d do the freeze plug heater while I have the engine out. Do you have separate plug in for everything or wire them all together?

I got a heavy three-way plug and plugged them into that after I cleaned the surfaces real well and put some RTV on the plugs to keep water out. I've had them apart a couple times (it took some work) and the prongs were always clean and dry. That way, I only had one plug coming out of the front of the truck.

Ok, that’s been my main concern about adding anything else for winter starts, realy didn’t want upteen cords. I do some work in ND and my vehicle will be the only vehicle on the place that doesn’t get plugged in.
