So while fixing some leaky valve cover gaskets, and doing some other routine maintenance, I noticed that my oil dipstick tube is in need of replacement. I did some searching and found that some say it just pulls out after the bolt by the exhaust manifold is removed, or some hint that there is another bolt down further on the block. Can anyone confirm this?

Ranger is a '94, 4.0, auto. I should be heading to the junkyard today to get one, cant seem to find one online. If anyone knows of one online that would help. Thank you all, really cant wait to drive this truck

Ok, I looked a little closer and found a 10mm bolt just under where the dipstick tube goes into the engine. I assume that may hold it in, I removed it and pulled the dipstick tube from the top. Of course it broke of just above the exhaust manifold...expected that. Tried grabbing the rest with pliers and pulling but it is still stuck in there pretty good. I think I may try warming up the engine, maybe that will loosen it up.

I pulled mine out by just removing the bolt on the exhaust, it was tight but did come out, so no "set" bolt on my '94 4.0l, 5-speed

Yep, the bolt on the exhaust manifold was the only bolt holding it in. On my ranger it was an 11mm. Dipstick was very tough to pull out, but eventually it came out and I hit my elbow on the hood, ouch. I went to the junkyard and pulled one from a '97 exploder. It was held on by a 13mm. Put it in the ranger and job all done. One more thing checked off the list.
