I'm looking to get a view form others regarding this. I feel like my truck is wrong. I have the 93 4X4 4.0 xlt. I didn't want but got 31X10.5 tires. And I do my best to keep it under 2kRPMS. yet I'm getting about 11-12mpg mixed.

Even tho I just did all the plugs, wires, fluids, filters, cleaned the MAF,TB,IAC.

Should I expect this kind of mileage or is something the f**k?

most 4.0 trucks get a real-world average of 14 or so

if you are wanting to modify your driving style to improve mileage, merely "keeping it under 2K" isn't necessarily the right way to do it. in fact that might cause too mug of a lug on the engine (which can hurt mileage too)

it is a common practice to put a vacuum gauge on it, and always modify your application of throttle to keep the most vacuum possible to achieve the best mileage.

So this begs the question as to why I'm getting much lower. I think I might need to compression check the block, I just don't remember what range the engine is suppose to be at, 281?

my 4.0 seems happiest right around 2300-2400rpm

I run 235/75-15 tires on 4.10 gears.

On a trip back from Indiana a couple of years ago I got 16.9mpg...

Big tires have a higher rolling resistance, and a lift causes the truck to push more air, both of which affect your fuel mileage negatively.
