Help! can someone please tell me where I can buy these 0.E.M 12mm1.75 and 8mm125. exhaust bolts. All I want to do is put this truck back together and sell it. This is on a 92 ranger, thanks, Ihave tried everywhere.

I got bolt for the exhaust for my 2.9 at ace, if you have one around you.

Thanks, only thing is ford uses special locking threads, but I probably will just use the reg metric thread and hope they stay tight.

To accomplish similar to factory I would try distorting the threads on bolts I bought with a hammer.....But that's me. After I broke 3 of 4 ['97 f-150 4.2L] and I found the 4 exhaust to manifold bolts were $15 a piece I plan on using stainless with nuts on the back side after drilling and tapping the manifolds [I'm keeping it].

My 94 came to me with 3/8 grade 8 hardware holding the Wye pipe to the manifolds. The bolts were drilled poorly. But the bolts were able to do the job. I cleaned them up and bought a set of the old school long brass nuts. I dropped the exhaust to change the clutch. I put the pipe back in with with its cat eliminator, then added the last jeep cat I bought 9 yrs ago. and a Walker muffler . It ends under the bed . The exhaust is quiet and I spent less than 75$ doing it. My truck isnt smogged , because it isnt OBD II . But I needed to have a cat , because it came that way.

THE issue with most of the exhaust manifold bolts is that the 8mmX1.25 bolts are not generally available in the correct factory lengths.

For some odd reason these bolts in a metric bolt bin at Lowes, home Depot, Ace, etc, are available either 5mm too long or 5mm too short.

when working on a Cologne V6 (2.9 or 4.0) I generally drill the threads out
and helicoil them ALL, but not in the metric size....

the funny thing is that both the 8mmX1.25 threads and 5/16-18 US thread holes use the same size tap drill (21/64") so I heli-coil them all for the US threads for which bolts the correct length ARE available

as for the exhaust manifld to y-pipe bolts?

Bite the bullet and go to Ford.

but do not use the bolts as supplied.

For some reason Ford uses a "Truncated root" thread form in this location
(on BOTH the manifold and the bolt) and these form a high interference fit, for some odd reason they supply the new bolts smeared with loctite!

Bolts from Ace/lowes/etc. will typically have 17mm heads, which are difficult
to install because of clearance issues... the factory bolts have 15mm flanged heads (like an integral washer)

I've used 3.0 bellhousing bolts but they typically need to have some threads added to them so that the threads don't bottom out before the bolt is actually tight.

Why specifically mention 3.0 bellhousing bolts? because these can typically be found laying on the ground in for Ford Section of most U-pull junkyards because people pulling the transmissions tend to drop the bolts...
