4.0 bog in snow/rain

Exotic_4X$
hey guys! i got an 04 ranger 4.0 4x4 when driving in the snow or the rain, my truck will act like a miss fire,(split second miss fire) it will hesitate and i noticed on the tach when it does it my RPMS drop, its only off and on when it does it but still it shouldnt be doing it, its not throwing any codes. and you can definatley notice it when your driving, im almost wondering if my airfilter is picking up moisture and suching a lil water into my intake/motor...possible MAF problem??? what ya guys think?

Check your distributor, on one of my previous vehicles one of the wires would get moisture under the cap because it was cracked and it would cause the vehicle not to start in rain or when it snowed. so it could be that possibly. but atleast yours is running so hopefully its no deeper than that. thats a pretty quick fix

dont think his dizzy is giving the problem...:icon_confused:

sounds to me like a calibration issue in the pcm to pull torque in 4x4.

those true dual and no cat may irritate it though

who gives a shit what his bolt ons are, its a 2004, its pretty much brand new and shouldnt have any problems, putting that stuff in there isnt gonna do shit, it would have when he first installed it, no of that is electrical or causes any sort of vac leak, my 93 with almost 300k was missing and whatnot and it ended up being the spark plugs, couple had the insulation cracked, i think i had the wrench at a bad angle tightening them down, i found this out by waiting until its dark and watching as i reved up the engine, i could see the arch coming out. still a slight miss once and a while but hell runs great.
According to manufacturers, the oils in the k&n style filters will collect on your MAF and screw it up. If you know how a MAF works you can use logic and determine that it is a bad idea. I didn't believe it at first but guess what, it happened to me. So I threw the filter in the trash and put a NAPA gold filter in it. No more problems. And as far as it not affecting it immediately, it won't necessarily happen right away. And so what if you got a set of bad plugs. So did I. Yeah I was frustrated, but I sucked it up and got new ones.

Like I said before truck runs fine other than snow the motor will buck ..recently I threw in a new IAC plugs wires and a new optima redtop ..hell ill even put a stock airfilter back in .. and clean the maf with deep creep and let you guys know tomorrow..
