3rd gen body swap

will a 3rd gen extended cab ranger bolt on to older 4x4 rangers with extended cab and mines 2wd thanks

and i want to use my motor and tranny to will it bolt into a truck with a smaller motor

ya the body will fit, any frame really, but it will be easiest if you stick to 89+... also moving this to the proper forum..

And as far as the tranny goes..what engines are involved here?

3.0l has its own bellhousing pattern
2.3l has its own bellhousing pattern

2.8, 2.9, and 4.0l share bellhousing patterns, but the 4.0l uses a larger flywheel and clutch, along with a different starter.

it would be way easer to switch out the engine cross member...and there is a way to make your 2wed engine cross member work...i remeber a few years ago with a 2wd truck and he swapped in a dana 35 with out changing the cross member...but that was on at least 2 forums ago

Changing the body is much easier than changing that crossmember. As long as you have a way to lift the cab. I've done it many ways. Four MEN can pick the cab up and swap it.
You can use the 4x4 front end with the 2wd crossmember but, It requires custom made brackets and a fair amount of lift.

you can use your 4.0 in any frame... it would just be best if it had a Dana35 front axle.
