390 In A Ranger

Believe me.. you can make an FE engine run strong. When set up right, they make gobs of torque. I doubt any of the stock Ranger drivetrain would hold up for long. Sorcing performance parts and the weight of the engine (can you say "boat anchor"?) are the only negetive things I can think of.

Go big or go home. keep the original motor until it blows. then make sure you build it right the first time because most people don't have time or money to do it right the first time but some how they find time and money to do it twice. don't bother swapping in a 4.0L with the v-8 you can make the pieces to get it to work or use anything to make it work you won't need 4L specific parts to get the job done but do what ever you want you will anyway.
